1930's Ludwig "Pioneer"
5x14 single-ply nickel over brass shell
8 tube lugs, brass unflanged clip hoops with Pioneer stamp
CONDITION NOTES: A beautifully pataina'd example of a pre-war Ludwig drum, with 80 years of graceful aging and just enough mojo to make it a singular-sounding player's drum. This Pioneer appears to be original with matching lugs, tension rods, clips, and hoops. Original throwoff needs a little help clicking on but works and tensions correctly. Aftermarket 16 strand nickel brass snarewire and Aquarian Vintage heads compliment the boxy, musical tone of this drum. Pre-war metal drums are unlike anything that came afterwards, making the sound of this great piece a must-have for any collection or studio!
